Whenever they take the field fate seems to be smiling on the Western Kentucky Women’s Soccer team. This past weekend they went to Louisiana and while they finished with a 1-1 tie in their contest against the University of Louisiana.
It was a different story against Louisiana-Monroe. WKU pounded ULM with five goals in the second half en route to a 6-1 win. The game was the final one on a four game road trip.
The Toppers reached the nine win mark for the seventh consecutive season and the 11th time in the 12-year history of the program.
More important, WKU leads the all time series with ULM by a 7-0 count.
Speaking of WKU and ULM, the volleyball teams went at it Sunday afternoon at the ULM Activity Center. The 20th ranked Topper volleyball team swept the home team 3-0, with scores of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-17.
WKU earned its 20th win of the season, they’re 20-3 to be exact and 6-0 in Sun Belt play. ULM is 4-11 overall and 0-6 in league play.

The Western Kentucky football team had the weekend off. Last week though, senior defensive end Quanterus Smith was named the Sun Belt conference Defensive Player of the Week.
It was the third straight week in which at least one WKU player had earned player-of-the-week. WKU made it a clean sweep in their overtime win against Kentucky earlier this season.
Running back Antonio Andrews took the offensive award, defensive back Jonathan Dowling and punter Hendrix Brakefield to the special teams honor.
The Hilltoppers went into the off week with a victory over Arkansas State.
