Walker Returns to Alma Mater

After weeks of speculation Male High School has found their man.  Matt Walker, an assistant for Bellarmine University last season has been appointed to become the next head coach of the Bulldogs’ baseball program. This comes just a month after former coach, Todd Driskell made the decision to step down from his position.

Former skipper, Todd Driskell steps down at Male.

In addition to being an assistant at Bellarmine, Walker also spent time as an assistant at Manual, head coach at North Oldham from 2008-2011, and one year with Waggener High School in Louisville.  Walker is also a Male High baseball alum that played under coach Driskell’s father.

At the player’s meeting the new coach brought an energetic attitude and had an anxious tone when describing his goals and expectations for the upcoming season.

Coach Walker will have big shoes to fill after the Bulldogs regional championship appearance last season before bowing out to St. Xavier. The Bulldogs return just four varsity players from last year’s squad  including only one starter. With such a young and inexperienced team Walker’s coaching abilities will be put to the test early.
