union-collegeASHEVILLE, N.C. – Union is picked to win the 2016 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) men’s soccer championship, according to the coaches’ poll released Monday.

Union won the 2015 AAC Tournament and advanced to the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Union finished 17-2-4 overall, advanced to the round of 16 at the national tournament and ranked No. 13 in nthe NAIA.

Receiving eight of 10 first-place votes, Union collected 80 total voting points. Bryan garnered the remaining two first-place votes to come in second with 71 voting points. Last season, Bryan won the regular-season championship with an 8-0-1 league mark.

Reinhardt (66 points), Tennessee Wesleyan (52 points) and St. Andrews (49 points).

Making up the rest of the field are: Truett McConnell (42 points), Milligan (30 points), Bluefield (28 points), Montreat (21 points) and Point (11 points).

The 2016 AAC Tournament is set to begin with the opening round on Nov. 1 with the championship game slated for Nov. 11.
