UC Patriots Are Slated For Third Place In MSC Preseason Poll

Craig,Adam-14The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Football program is looking ahead to next week as the Patriots will return to campus for fall preseason camp.  The Patriots are poised to enter the season with a drive to improve off a 3-7 season in 2014.  On Wednesday, the Mid-South Conference (MSC) released its annual Preseason Coaches’ Poll and the Patriots would garner some attention in the East Division.

UC received 1 of the 6 first place votes in the MSC East Division and 14 total voting points, placing them 3rd in the division in preseason voting.  The Patriots had a tough season in 2014, going 3-7 overall but winning their final two games of the year to carry some momentum into the offseason.  UC would also go 2-4 in MSC East Division play in 2014, earning victories over Kentucky Christian and Bluefield.  The Patriots look to rebound and make a charge towards their 7th MSC Championship.

Georgetown College earns the nod as the favorite in the MSC East earning the other 5 first-place votes and 25 voting points overall.  The University of Pikeville follows the Tigers in 2nd place with 18 total voting points.  Kentucky Christian sits in 4th with 14 voting points overall as well.  Union College and Bluefield round out the MSC East Division rankings in 5th and 6th with 12 and 7 total points respectively.

The Patriots will begin their 2015 season on the road in Campbellsville, Kentucky as they take on Campbellsville University on Thursday, August 27th.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm EST.
