MARION, Ind. — Lindsey Wilson had three student-athletes earn NAIA All-American honors on Friday after strong performances at the outdoor track & field national championships at the Indiana Wesleyan Outdoor Track Complex.

The three All-Americans all came from race-walking events as Reini Brickson finished third in the women’s 5,000-meter race walk and Roberto and Ricardo Vergara finished sixth and seventh, respectively on the men’s side.

All competitors at the national championships that earn team points with their finishes are named All-Americans.

Brickson crossed the finish line in 28 minutes and 30.65 seconds while Nicole Bonk from Embry-Riddle (Fla.) won the race in 26:43.05.

Roberto Vergara finished with a time of 24:34.43 and Ricardo crossed in 24:58.07. British Columbia’s Ben Thorne won the individual title in 22:41.13.

Also competing on Friday was Sharon Ronoh in the women’s 5,000-meter run preliminaries. Ronoh finished her heat with a time of 18:23.71, which qualifies her for Saturday’s final at 5:10 p.m. CT.

Ronoh’s run in the finals will be the final competition for the Blue Raiders at this year’s nationals. Just looking at times in the prelims, Ronoh posted the sixth fastest time.
