MVP Award Week 2 of 2016 | Wood

The MVP Award for Week 2 of action in the young 2016 football season goes to…

imagesWalker Wood, who is already being picked as the odds on favorite for the Mr. Kentucky Football Award, led the Lafayette Generals to a 47-21 road victory over Boyle County. Under the Friday night lights, Wood totaled 188 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Through the air, Wood was effective as well, throwing for a couple of scores.

The 6-1, 187 lbs dual threat quarterback and University of Kentucky commitment was in rare form on Friday night. Wood garnered national attention with his 63-yard scamper to the end zone on a busted play after fielding a high snap. ESPN included the play in Sportscenter’s Top 10, ranking it the 6th best play of the weekend. See Wood’s play below.

Our congratulations to Week 2 MVP, Walker Wood of Lexington, KY.

Wood and the Generals host the 2-0 Trinity Shamrocks in a huge game on Friday night, September 2nd.  Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. local time.
