Lindsey Wilson’s Ashley Rainey Named NAIA All-American for Second Straight Season

RaineyCOLUMBIA, Ky. – Ashley Rainey is the first player in Lindsey Wilson women’s basketball history to be named an NAIA Division I First Team All-American for two straight seasons. Officials from the national office announced the three All-American teams and honorable mentions on Thursday.
Rainey led the Blue Raiders with 24.1 points and 12.0 rebounds per contest. The junior joins Lavanda Ross from Union (Tenn.) as the only repeat first teamers from last season.
The Bowling Green, Ky., native also earned First Team All Mid-South Conference honors earlier this season during the conference tournament in Frankfort, Ky.
During the regular-season, Rainey became the ninth member of the 1,000-point club for the Blue Raiders. She closed out her junior season with 1,202 career points, ranking seventh on the all-time list.
Ross was named the NAIA Player of the Year and Rob Edmisson from Oklahoma City earned coach of the year honors.
Award winners were selected by the All-America committee.
