Hoppers Season Underway With Win

Fulton, KY– The rebirth of the Hoppers and the return of baseball to Hoptown officially is underway with a road win over the Fulton Railroaders.  The Hoppers exercised the ability to rally as they overcame a 9-4 deficit to turn the season opener into an 11-9 road win.

The Hoppers managed the first run in the first inning only to have the Railroaders match in the bottom half.

The Hoppers added its second score in the top of the 3rd.  They relinquished the lead, however, as Fulton added a couple of runs before ending the inning.

It was in the 4th where the most damage came for the Hoppers.  While Hoptown continued to consistently put up points, the Railroaders took advantage by tacking on 4 runs.  Included in the Fulton offensive outburst was 3 RBI homer by Alex Huddleston over the right- center field fence.

Clayton Dulin, the Hoppers starting pitcher and the rest of the team appeared to struggle with opening-day jitters marked with a couple of early errors to further the deficit.  Reliever Jason McDonald came to the mound to sure up the pitching over the next five innings.

Both Jake Sandlin’s and Brett Pirdle’s bats helped the cause by adding much needed offense to the Hoppers resurgent efforts, delighting the Hoppers following.  Sandlin’s game winning RBI double drove in 2 to put the Hoppers in the lead 10-9, plus scored the final run to ad insurance.

The Hoppers had 9 hits and left 5 on base, while the Railroaders tallied 13 hits and stranded 9.

The Railroaders utilized 5 pitchers through the contest with Daniel Szathmary taking the loss.

Madisonville is the next stop for the Hoppers on their season- opening- three- game road series.  The Railroaders remain at home to host Owensboro.

Admission is $5 and tickets are available at the gate.  Season Passes are also available for $75 for the entire season of wholesome family fun!
