Greene, Grisham Named to California Collegiate League All-Star Team | eastern

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University senior baseball players Chase Greene and Austin Grisham have have been named to the 2012 California Collegiate League All-Star Team. The All-Star Game will take place July 11 in Compton, Calif.

Greene and Grisham are teammates this summer, and both have put up stellar numbers for the San Luis Blues. Greene, a right-handed pitcher from Nicholasville, Ky., has posted a 3-1 record while throwing 15.2 innings. He has also recorded 18 strikeouts, one save and a .221 opponent batting average. Grisham, an outfielder from Louisville, Ky., has gone on a hitting spree recently, posting a .271 batting average with 18 RBI and 11 stolen bases.

The following are other highlights from EKU players in summer leagues around the country:

Northwoods League

– Senior right-hander Anthony Bazzani has thrown extremely well for the Alexandria Beetles. Bazzani has posted 20 strikeouts, six saves and a 3.38 ERA all on 13.1 innings of work.

Midwest Collegiate and New York Collegiate Leagues

– A pair of sophomore right-handers, Ben Gullo and Cameron Langfels, are also having strong summers. Gullo has started six games for the Will County CrackerJacks of the Midwest Collegiate League while going the distance in two of those starts. Gullo has posted a 3-1 record, recording 29 strikeouts, a 2.01 ERA and a .210 opponent batting average in 40.1 innings of work. Langfels, while playing for the Wellsvile Nitros of the New York Collegiate League, has posted a 2-2 record in five starts. Langfels has thrown 24.1 innings and has racked up 20 strikeouts and a 3.33 ERA.
