WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – EKU finished third against a strong field at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary.  The Colonels beat Louisville and finished behind only Tennessee and Penn State.

The Colonels blistered the course during round two on Monday.  Their team score of 274 is the sixth lowest on record for the program and was the best round by any team during any round of this year’s Kingsmill Intercollegiate.  Three players shot par or better during the second round, including a 4-under 66 by Jared Brown and a 3-under 67 by Noah Combs.

The strong round propelled EKU from a tie for 11th after the first round to fourth place.

Eastern followed up a strong second round with a nearly equally impressive third round score of 279.  That final round score was the best of the day and moved EKU to third place.  The Colonels‘ 54-hole total of 857 was four shots better than Louisville (861) and just six behind second place Penn State (851).  Tennessee (850) captured the team title by one shot.

Erik Lindwall (212) led Eastern Kentucky and tied for sixth overall.  The sophomore followed a first round 76 with an even-par 70 in round two and a 4-under 66 in round three.  He jumped from 30th after round two and finished two shots over par.

The 2017 Kingsmill Intercollegiate was contested on the par-70, 6,778-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort.

Combs (215) moved from a tie for 54th to 17th after a second round 3-under 67.  A final round 72 put Combs into a tie for 11th.

Travis Rose (217) tied for 20th in a field of 120 players.  Brown jumped from a tie for 74th to 17th after his second round 4-under 66.  He finished tied for 20th with a three-round total of 217.
