WKU Goes Even In Twin Land

The hot feet for Western Kentucky’s soccer team went through a cooling period Labor Day afternoon against the University of Minnesota. The Toppers traveled to the Twin Cities for a pair of weekend games.  The opening game was good as two players picked up their goals of the season allowing WKU to get by Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon.

Florence native Torrie Lange broke a deadlock in the 43rd minute, making the score 1-0.Junior Chrissy Tchoula from Noblesville, Ind. gave the Toppers a 2-0 lead when she scored in the 51st minute of the contest.

Freshman Nikki Hall from Cincinnati, had a career high seven saves, while allowing one BGSU goal. Monday after was different story as the home team shutout WKU 1-0.

Katie Thyken scored the lone goal of the game in the 51st minute. It marks the first time this season that WKU was held scoreless and it brings the team’s five-game scoring streak to an end.

WKU returns home on Sept. 9 when the Lady Toppers host Vanderbilt at 1:00pm.
