WKU head coach Willie Taggart called it, “a huge win for the program. It is amazing to see how far we have come in just two years.”The Hilltoppers are 4-0 in extra frame games since 2010. “We are in our third year now, and we have been at the bottom. I told our guys before the game it was our time. It was our time to show everyone else what we are capable of, and we did that tonight.”

The Wildcats scored on the first possession of overtime to take the first lead of the game 31-24. WKU was able to take the ball down to the ten yard line. They faced a third-and-seven when Jakes hooked up with Kadeem Jones. The spot looked to be short. However, a miss cue by UK gave the Toppers new life on the two.

WKU scored on the next play and came within one. After that Taggart went for broke giving WKU the win.
