Softball taking new direction in 2013 | Murray State

Director of Athletics Allen Ward announced today that Jay Pyron will not return for a fourth season at the helm of Racer Softball.  “I appreciate all that Jay has done to build the program from scratch,” said Ward. “He’s worked very hard and we’ve come a good distance the past three years.  However, after evaluating all aspects of the program, I believe a change will benefit our future development and the overall direction I’m looking for.”

Pyron finishes his career at Murray State with an overall record of 80-79, 43-37 in OVC play.

“I’m excited about Racer Softball and the opportunity it has to be among the best in the conference year in and year out,” Ward says. “I fully expect Racer Softball to be a signature program at Murray State.”

A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
