Second 11-Inning Win For Fulton Over Oilers | Owensboro

OwensboroFor the second night in a row, the Railroaders and Oilers battled for 11 innings with Fulton coming out on top. Owensboro kicked off the scoring with a run in the 1st, followed by Fulton putting up 3 in the bottom half of the inning. The Railroaders added 2 in the 2nd and one more in the 3rd inning to take a 6-1 lead. The Oilers got back into game in the 4th inning scoring 5 to tie the contest at 6 all, then grabbed a 8-6 lead in the 5th marking up 2 more runs. Fulton tied the game again the bottom of the 6th with 2 runs and then scoring stalled for both teams. 

The Railroaders led off the bottom of the 9th inning with a triple by Alex Huddleston, and the Oilers intentionally walked the next 2 batters to load the bases and tighten the infield defense. The move worked as the Oilers forced the first out at home plate on an infield grounder, struck out the next batter and got a the third on a groundout. Owensboro then threatened in the 10th when Austin Edge singled and made it to 3rd base on a sacrifice bunt and groundout, but the Railroaders got another groundout to end the inning. In the bottom of the 11th inning Andrew Cash led off with a double and finally scored the winning run when a throwing error to 1st base from a bunted ball got away and allow the score.

The Railroaders put up 16 hits with Rob Hogenkamp, Joe Mike and Andrew Cash each getting 3 on the evening. The Oilers managed 12 hits lead by Jonathan Brinez who went 3 for 6, one RBI and scoring twice. Fulton used 5 pitchers with Brock Downey getting the win throwing the final innings, Austin Pittman took the loss pitching for the final 5 innings with no earned runs allowed. 

Both teams entered the game with 3-6 records and last in the standings. Fulton’s win moves them into 4th place after spending the first 9 games in the bottom of the 2012 standings.
