And the MVP Award 2016 goes to…

Coffee County quarterback, Alontae Taylor showed up to show out. Taylor’s five touchdowns before the intermission vaulted the Red Raiders to a 35 to 3 halftime lead on the road in the first week of Tennessee high school football action .

AlontaeTaylorThe junior is a commitment to the University of Tennessee Volunteers and thoroughly showcased his abilities as Coffee County picked up its second straight win over the rival Tullahoma Wildcats. The 49-10 Red Raiders win marked the first back to back wins in this series since 1982.

Taylor completed a 32 yard TD pass to Tyrese McGee on Coffee County‘s first drive as merely as a warm up to the night’s performance. He then proceeded to rush for touchdowns of 48 and 64 yards in the the first quarter alone, hauled in a 43 yard pass for a touchdown and rushed for another 14 yard TD to cap off the first half heroics.

The second half for Alontae Taylor was relatively quiet. However, he would go on to add a 36 yard rushing score in the 4th and an exclamation mark to the historic night.

More than lighting up the scoreboard and causing scouts to drool, this game was very important. The win is the largest margin of victory for the Raiders in the 91 year history of the rivalry.

On the ground, Taylor wrapped up the night with 291 yards on 10 carries and 4 touchdowns. Through the air, he had a single pass for a total of 32 yards and a TD, plus 2 receptions for 48 yards and his 6th TD.

Next up for Coffee County, a trip to take on Pope John Paul II in Hendersonville, TN.

Congratulations to Week 1 MVP, Alontae Taylor of Coffee County, TN.
