Men’s Basketball: Ballou, Spreen Named to 2011-12 NABC Honors Court | Lindsey Wilson

Blue Raider pair also earned Academic All-MSC honors last season

COLUMBIA, Ky. — Darren Ballou and Chase Spreen of the Lindsey Wilson College men’s basketball team earned National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court accolades for the 2011-12 season, the Kansas City-based organization announced on Tuesday.

The Blue Raider pair are the only student-athletes from the Mid-South Conference included on the Honors Court which includes honorees from NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA institutions.

In order to be named to the NABC Honors Court, an athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria, including junior or senior academic status, possessing a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2010-11 academic year and have spent at least one year at their current institution.

Spreen, also an NAIA Scholar Athlete and Academic All-MSC selection last season, averaged 15.4 points and 4.5 rebounds en route to being named a Third Team NAIA All-American. Ballou also earned Academic All-MSC honors and helped the Blue Raiders win their first out-right MSC Regular-Season Championship averaging 4.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest.
