Five Lindsey Wilson Softball Players Named NAIA Scholar-Athletes

Five of the 308 NAIA Softball Scholar-Athletes come from the Blue Raider program that recently ended play in the NAIA Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The NAIA has announced that 308 softball student-athletes have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes and Lindsey Wilson College has placed five student-athletes on the list.

ntain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved at least a junior academic status to qualify for the honor.

e third baseman Caren Alexander, catcher Mikaila Etheredge, second baseman Jordan Gilland, third baseman Emily Priar and outfielder Alexis Rodgers.

The group helped leads the Blue Raiders to a 47-13 overall record and 19-5 mark against Mid-South Conference teams. Lindsey Wilson reached 47 wins for the third straight season and made its third consecutive trip to the NAIA National Championship in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Lindsey Wilson played its final game of the championship on Saturday, topping Indiana Southeast 10-0. It finished with a 1-2 record in pool play, however, and did not advance to this week’s double-elimination round.
