Emily Priar Earns Spot on Capital One Academic All-America Softball Team

COLUMBIA, Ky. — Lindsey Wilson senior third baseman Emily Priar was selected to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America College Division Softball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Capital One Academic All-America College Division softball teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions. A first, second and third team were chosen with 11 student-athletes on each.

Priar is a third-team choice after finishing with a 3.61 GPA as a History major. The Owensboro, Ky., native started all 60 of the Blue Raiders’ games this season. She hit .408 and drove in 41 runs to lead Lindsey Wilson to its third straight appearance in the NAIA Softball Championship.

Lindsey Wilson played its final game on Saturday, beating Indiana Southeast 10-0. The Blue Raiders finished 1-2 in their pool and did not advance to Monday’s double-elimination round.

As a two-year starter at third base for Lindsey Wilson after transferring in as a junior, Priar took part in two Mid-South Conference Tournament Championships and two trips to nationals in Gulf Shores, Ala.
