The Christian County Baseball team used an early-week series with Fort Campbell to help right the ship and turn a streak where the Colonels lost four straight and eight of nine games into a three-game winning streak.
The Colonels broke the slump Saturday with a 5-1 win over Lincoln County, before sweeping the home and home two-game series against the Falcons.
Christian County won the first game of the series 7-2 at Fort Campbell on Monday by scoring once each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, and taking a 3-2 lead into the seventh. The Colonels plated four more runs in the seventh to give Dixon Craft the complete-game win.
Tuesday’s game saw Colonel pitcher Joey Deck give up a run to begin the game in the top of the first, but held strong throughout the rest of the game as his offense gave him the support for a complete game win. Christian County responded to the Ft. Campbell score in the first with a pair of runs when David Smith and D.J. Langhi crossed the plate. The Colonels added an insurance run in the sixth when Dalton Rowe scored off a single by Clayton Baker.
The Colonels now sit with a 9-14 overall record, but a 5-3 regional and 2-2 district record thanks to a pair of losses to Hopkinsville and the two wins over Ft. Campbell. The Colonels will not wrap up the district schedule until May 7 and 8 when the play a home and home series against University Heights.
Christian County will play a pair of games on Saturday in the Louisville Invitational Tournament against Danville and Fern Creek.
