No. 12 Lindsey Wilson hosts Lyon in football home opener

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The 12th-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team welcomes Lyon (Ark.) to Blue Raider Stadium for its 2016 home opener this Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT.

The Blue Raiders (1-0) defeated Cumberland (Tenn.) 33-29 on Aug. 25 to commence the season. Lindsey Wilson outscored the Phoenix 14-8 in the fourth quarter to erase a 21-13 halftime deficit. Dylan Beasley connected with Jalen Sublett from 23 yards out for the game-winning score with 4:15 left in the fourth quarter. Beasley threw two more touchdown passes for his third career, three-touchdown game.

Blake Ingleton scored two touchdowns on the ground for the Blue Raiders, marking the 20th time a Lindsey Wilson rusher has scored twice in a game.

Cumberland outgained the Blue Raiders 479-352, including a sizeable 241-136 edge on the ground, but the Lindsey Wilson defense held firm in the second half, limiting the Phoenix to eight points.

Lyon fell to Wayland Baptist (Texas) 37-14 last week. The Scots (0-1) are still looking for the program’s first-ever win. Lyon went 0-11 in 2015 – their inaugural season. The Blue Raiders are 16-1 against unranked opponents and have won 12-straight against teams outside the top-25.

Lindsey Wilson defeated Lyon 76-10 last season in Batesville, Ark. The Blue Raiders scored 62-straight points in the final three quarters to post their second-highest point total in program history. Allen Cooks returned two punts for touchdowns in that game with the second being a program-record 92 yarder.

Live video will be available for Saturday’s contest on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network for $9.95. A full season viewing pass can be purchased for $49.95 for all six regular season home games.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT at Blue Raider Stadium.
